Khayelisha Care

Support for Orphans and Vulnerable Children

KHAYELISHA CARE AND DISTRIBUTION CENTER

Outreach by the Rock of Life Church in Tugela Ferry

Khayelisha Care Project is based in Tugela Ferry, in the eastern province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. It was established in 2001 as an outreach of the Rock of Life Church in response to the devastation caused in the area by the combination of HIV, tuberculosis, and extreme poverty. Tugela Ferry is at the center of Msinga, at the crossing point of the Tugela River, which is home to a population estimated to be between 170,000 and 250,000 people spread out over 2,500 square kilometers. Khayelisha Care ministers to the needs of the many orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) through a range of support services.

These services include palliative care in a supervised care center, foster care in cluster housing, arrangement for basic needs for children who need assistance, school fees and uniforms, training for caregivers, assistance with socials grants, and other care as needed.

Prevention Time provides support through general funding and child sponsorships.
